In: NeaMente Journal, no 0, 2022. (Tipo: Journal Article | Abstract | Links: )@article{nokey, The Covid-19 Pandemic increased the workload of healthcare workers (HCW). Working under stressful conditions became harder for HCW who take care of people affected by serious and chronic physical and psychic pathologies. Psychiatric pathologies in over-65 patients are responsible for important consequences on their healthcare workers’ psychic and physical health. In our observational study, an exploratory design evaluated the effects of work-related stress on a group of HCW who take care of psychiatric patients residing in psychiatric rehabilitation residential facilities. The results obtained during a one-year evaluation period, during the Covid-19 pandemic, showed a significant increase in stress, burnout and anxiety in all of the examined HCW [ProQoL (ST: T-test P: 0.012); CBI (Time: p > 0.000, S dimension: p < 0.000)]. Instead, a decrease in work-related satisfaction was observed (ProQoL: CS: p: 0.01). The analysis of the subgroup showed an increase in BO subscale (Burnout) in moderate-to-high values, especially in the nurses' group (T0 vs t1: 50% vs 68.75%). After one year, ia reduction of hope was observed (Total p = 0.0001, Square Eta = 0.252; T-Score = 4.381; mean 6.236 vs 8.614). However, the limit of our study directs at a broader longitudinal study and suggests an in-depth study and subsequent more in-depth evaluations. |
